Better mouse trap??

Or overly complicated door bell?!? We never seem to come up with anything simple for the science fair, but it's always fun getting our hands dirty together. Big thanks to Fred for the primo african mohogany base!!

Galatians 6:1-10

1 Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If any of you think you are something when you are nothing, you deceive yourselves. 4 Each of you should test your own actions. Then you can take pride in yourself, without comparing yourself to somebody else, 5 for each of you should carry your own load. 6 Nevertheless, those who receive instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.
7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. People reap what they sow. 8 Those who sow to please their sinful nature, from that nature[a] will reap destruction; those who sow to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Another project

This one started out as a stock '97 fatboy. It's getting new wheels, sheet metal, wide tire kit, top end gaskets, new handle bars with internal wiring, later model brakes, chrome front end, and a few other bits and pieces. Not exactly my style of bike, but that doesn't mean it can't be done well.

I'd be happier

If I could work on only shovelheads, all the time. Yeah, that would make me smile.

Troublehead!!!

Tore into this engine today. Some typical issues, some not so typical. Looks as though the front cylinder suffered the worst; cracked piston, heavy scoring in the bore, and a cracked ring. For some reason this cylinder also had two head gaskets. Found a bunch of oil on top of both pistons and what I would consider to be excessive carbon build up in both chambers. Wrist pin bushings are loose, exhaust valve guides are shot, and exhaust valves have a bit of a step in them. It sounds bad, but in the end this guy is luckier than a dog with two weiners, it could have been was worse if that piston had come apart.

3 Head Gaskets,

But only 2 heads. I hate finding stuff like this when I tear down engines. While it's not hard to figure out why the engine had only two heads, it may be a bit harder to figure out why it had two gaskets on the front cylinder.

It's days like this I really wish I had heat in my garage!

Flea Market Find

Picked this up at the local flea market. Ace sissy bar bag. I'm not sure how old it is, but it's plenty cool. It needs a bit of work, but is in overall good condition. Anyone know a good way to soften the leather back up?

At long last,

Our journey is finished, and yet it just begins. Our day in court has passed and finally my youngest daughters share my name. 715 days were required to complete the adoption. Closure eases my mind. Thank you Jesus!!!
