OK is okay 2013; National Cowboy And Western Heritage Museum, the bronze.

When Chris said this was on the itinerary I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Now, after the fact, I'm not quite sure I grasp the magnitude of what we experienced! Everyone owes it to themselves to visit this museum at least once, even if you don't think it would be your "thing". There is truly something for every audience, from weekly TV series displays, to motion picture displays, to the very best examples of tack, bridals, and saddlery the world has ever seen. Less than 50% of the museum permitted photography for obvious reasons. This institution houses what is probably the most extensive collection of western american art to be found. All, and I mean ALL of the top names are there! I could have spent several days gazing awestruck at the oil saturated canvas alone, but then I wouldn't have anything to blog about. I have hundreds of photos of the "photo friendly" displays in the museum so I've decided it would be best to share in installments. The first of which will be the bronze, as it's one of my favorite mediums. One day I will try my hand at it. My results will likely not be this impressive.

  1. Nearly lost for words my brother, beautiful and touching as only top notch bronze works can elicit, the insanely accurate capturing of the Duke's classic body language is breathtaking. A wonderful post mate, pics and blurb. XX

  2. I second your sentiment, this is something everyone should see...even if you feel like it isn't your bit. I didn't know what to think about it either but much like the rest of the trip, I would be kicking myself in the tail end forever if I had missed it.
